Your first step to Ideal Mini School

Thank you for your interest in our school. We are delighted to share our school community with you, and our website is a great place to start to explore all that Ideal Mini School offers.

Our application process for Grade 7 students going into Grade 8 begins in the Fall each year. We typically host an Open House event in October/November where families can have the opportunity to visit our school, have a guided tour by our current students, and attend an information session led by our teachers.

For students applying for Grades 9 to 12, we normally accept applications around March which will be reviewed after Spring Break.

Application process for our 2024-25 Grade 8 Cohort

We will be accepting applications to our 2024/25 Grade 8 cohort during the Fall of 2023 Please note that the deadline for application is Thursday, December 21, 2023 by 3:00pm sharp. Applications are to be submitted to the Churchill office. For registration info, please see the Vancouver School Board website under the Mini Schools section.

IMPORTANT: In the event that your child changes his/her mind and decides to withdraw their application, please let us know as soon as possible so that the offer can be made to another student.

Only the applicants who we select for an online interview will receive an invitation via email. As we receive over 200 applications, please do not call the school to ask about the status of your application.

VSB Registration

Apply to the District Mini School Registry between November 7 – December 15, 2022 at http://govsb.ca/secondary-programs.

Ideal Mini Application

Download and complete the Fillable Grade 8 Application Form.

3.

Grade 6 Report Cards

Include ALL Grade 6 report cards (reporting periods 1 & 2)

4.

Grade 7 Report Cards

The Grade 7 report will also be required. When it becomes available, please email it to ptseng@vsb.bc.cano later than February 1st.

5.

Proof of Residence

Proof of residence (please refer to page 1 of the application for a list of acceptable documents)

Photograph

A recent photograph of the applicant.

Application process for our 2024-25 Grade 9 to 11 Cohorts

We will be accepting applications for our 2023-24 Grade 9-11 classes during the Spring of 2023 Applications will be reviewed after Spring Break and suitable candidates will be selected for interviews at that time. Please download and complete the application below attached with all required information and submit to our school office.

  • Thursday, December 21, 2023, by 3:00 p.m. PST
    Deadline for applicants for our 2023-24 Grade 8 cohort.
  • March 2024
    Application form for our 2024-25 Grade 9 to 12 cohorts available. Applications will be accepted before the end of the school year for September 2023.
  • Spring 2024
    Grade 9 to 12 applicant interviews.
