Our recent sister school exchange trip to Tokyo and Yokohama, Japan was an amazing experience for everyone involved. Fifteen of our Grade 11 and 12 students, along with Ernie and Lu, traveled to Japan where they explored culture, history, language and education. As well, international friendships were built and lifelong memories made.
The trip included a tour of many sites in Tokyo, including Asakusa, Odaiba, Miraikan (The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation), Akihabara, and Shibuya. To Ernie and our students’ delights, they even managed to sneak in a fun night of karaoke till they dropped! For the latter part of the trip, students were homestayed with a Japanese buddy and their family. It was a unique, first-hand opportunity to stay and experience Japanese culture, customs, and language in a Japanese family’s home. Our students and staff also visited our sister school, Y-Ko, where the school’s international program hosted special classes, activities, and tours. Idealites were highly engaged and were amazing ambassadors of Ideal Mini School!
Overall, it was a wonderful experience for our students and staff. We look forward to hosting 23 Japanese students and 2 teachers at Ideal Mini when they visit Canada in February 2019!
